Healthy Eating!March 12, 2018
Establishing healthy eating routines with your toddler is essential to their development. Always remember that serving sizes for your toddler are smaller than those for adults and each child is different!
It is important for you to provide many healthy choices for your toddler and to let them decide how much they want to eat. By letting them tell you that they are full, they will begin to understand how to listen to their body for signs of hunger and fullness.
Your little one (and you too!) need foods from all five of the food groups – grains, protein, vegetables, fruit and dairy. Get in the habit of offering a variety of these foods at meal time and for snacks.
Remember to set specific meal and snack times during the day.
During a meal, limit distraction and have your toddler to sit at the table with you. Use child-size plates and utensils and avoid sippy cups and bottles. This will help them to become independent while eating and serving themselves.
